Smoking Rhinos was established in 2012, with the intention of focusing on locally manufactured products through CNC (Computer Numeric Control Machines). Our intention is to bridge the gap and train as many CNC Operators to either establish their own businesses as CNC Programmers or CNC Machine Operators or be employable in CNC Operating Companies.
We are strategically located in Mohlakeng Township, so we can upskill youth in and around West-Rand to facilitate easy access, and create employment opportunities for learners from these marginalised areas to redress inequalities of the past.
To become a CNC machinist, one must be equipped with the technical and interpersonal skills that employers are looking for. To support those CNC machinist skills, and to stand out against other job applicants, you must also carry professional credentials offered by Smoking Rhinos.
Learners with a passion for technology and design, a knack for precision and detailed tasks, and desire a career beyond the typical “desk job,” CNC machining may be the perfect path for you.
CNC machinists are on the cutting edge of manufacturing; they work with computers, operate machinery, read blueprints and designs, and spend their days helping put parts and products into fruition.
At Smoking Rhinos CNC Skills Development Programme, students learn through hands-on, job-like experiences.
